Why We Walk

Every day, families from across Newfoundland and Labrador face the reality of a sick or injured child. For many, this means traveling to St. John’s to receive specialized pediatric care at the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre.

At Ronald McDonald House, we provide more than just a place to stay—we offer a home filled with warmth, compassion, and support. Our mission is to keep children close to their families and the medical care they need during some of the most difficult moments in their lives.

Caring for a sick or injured child comes with immense stress and uncertainty. We understand that every family who walks through our doors is going through a challenging and emotional time. That’s why we work hard to make our House feel comfortable and welcoming.

So, as families walk the halls, pace the floors and come and go—they can take comfort in knowing the coffee is fresh, the home-cooked meals and cookies are made especially for them and there is always someone close by ready to hear about your day.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters, families with a sick or injured child have a place to call home—just steps from the province’s children’s hospital.
